This depends on whether the applicant's training and qualification are considered equivalent to those in Norway. A short course is available should further training be required.

| Information on the local working environment: |
Average working week is 37.5 hours per week with 4 weeks holiday per year. 80% of the dental hygienists work within community dentistry, the rest work in private practice, mostly in the big cities.

| Standard tasks that hygienists are allowed to undertake in the country: |
- Preventive dentistry
- Examination of the patient
- Making temporary diagnosis of oral disease
- Radiography
- Removal of calculus, plaque and stains from the teeth
- teach oral health issues to "key personnel" in institutions and hospitals to maintain patients' oral health
