The steps to obtain a term work permit to practice dental hygiene in Germany are as follows:
- Submit a diploma from an internationally recognised school of dental hygiene.
- Secure a Dentist/Employer
- Apply for a work permit with the dentist/employer
- Apply for permission to reside in Germany

| Special conditions that may apply for hygienists that obtain employment: |
Dental hygienists should be willing to commit themselves for a period of two years and should preferably have two years experience as a dental hygienist .
